Elias is an actor, and writer of screen and stage. In 2023 and 2024, he optioned three original screen shows, as Series Creator and Showrunner: the horror series Norfolk to Fremantle Media (Heartbreak High), the dark comedy Cute Aggression to Carver Films (Relic, Snowtown), and the queer psychological thriller Duck, Duck, Goose to Mad Ones Films (Erotic Stories).
Previously, he was selected for Ron Howard's screen career accelerator Impact, where he worked with his mentor Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral).
As a playwright, Elias is currently working on a commission for Malthouse Theatre. His mainstage debut Green Park, directed by Declan Greene, returned for Sydney Festival after a critically-acclaimed premiere at Griffin Theatre Company. It was nominated for Best Mainstage Production at the Sydney Theatre Awards and shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. His play CAMP premiered at Sydney World Pride. CAMP was commissioned by 78er and LGBT activist Robyn Kennedy, and subsequently nominated for multiple awards including Best Play and Best New Play at BroadwayWorld Australia Sydney Awards.
He was an Artist Attachment on Benedict Andrews’ production of Pique Dame at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. He has been supported by the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, and Create NSW. He has presented new writing for Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC), RedStitch Actors Theatre, and Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). He has been shortlisted for the Screen NSW Emerging Writers’ Incubator, the Next Stage Residency at MTC, the National Script Workshop at Playwriting Australia, and the Silver Gull Play Award. He is a recipient of the Jim Marks Scholarship, University of Melbourne. He is an alumnus of the Fresh Ink National Mentorship and National Studio at ATYP.
He holds a Master of Writing for Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (Acting for Screen and Stage) from Charles Sturt University. He directed Claire Sara and Sancia Robinson in two sold-out seasons of Chloe Moss’ This Wide Night at The Burrow in Fitzroy. He executive produced and co-wrote the feature film Ambrosia, winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Gulf of Naples Festival and Best Cinematography at the Harrisburg-Hershey Film Festival.
As an actor, he appears as lead roles in the indie features Ambrosia and The Interlude, and the horror short The Madman with Lighting in His Hands for which he received the 2020 Chicken and Chips Casting Award for Best Male Performance. He is represented by Cameron’s Management.
